10th Latin GRAMMY Award Nominees Announced

The Latin Grammy Awards have been essential in the Latin Music Community, recognizing the potencial of many bands/artist and their music capabilities. Yesterday the 10th Latin Grammy Nominees were announced and I'm really excited because there are many great new nominees that excelled this year musically.

Hello Seahorse! were nominated for "Best Alternative Song" for 'Bestia' [Mun Records/EMI Music Mexico]. I have followed the musical career of Hello Seahorse! with Mexico's explosive Indie Music Scene. Hello Seahorse! is a young promising band with an unpretentious proposal, a trio that celebrates that naive spirit that leads our behavior most of the times. The band has worked hard and have achieved to set foot in international stages such as MX Beat Toluca 2008, SXSW 2008, and Vive Latino 2009. Recently nominated for Premios MTV 2009 in two categories which followed their Latin Grammy nomination, Hello Seahorse! will be one it's first-ever California Tour! Performing next week, September 26th at Automatico @ Senor Fish in Los Angeles.
Keep on eye on HS! as they will be a promising bands that is full of attractive and emotional lyrics!

Jaguares were nominated for "Best Rock Album" for '45' [EMI Music Mexico] and for "Best Rock Song" for 'Entre Tus Jardines' [Saúl Hernández, 45]. Recently winning their first-ever Grammy for "Best Rock Album" for '45' in February 2009, Jaguares have had a long successful musical career since the 80's Rock En Espanol Movement in Mexico, when they were Caifanes. Jaguares have so much to give and I can't wait to viajar en el tiempo with them...
Saul Hernandez 's charismatic lyrics have been influence by inspiration of life and death, and everything in-between.

For "Best Alternative Album" we have Zoe- Reptilectric [Labels Mexico/Noiselab Records/EMI Music Mexico], Los Amigos Invisibles- Commerical [Gozadera Records/Nacional Records], Babasonicos- Mucho + [Universal Music Group], Kinky- Barracuda [Universal Music Group/Kinkon Records], and
Novalima- Coba Coba [Cumbancha].

The 10th Annual Latin Grammy Awards are a must see this year!

The Latin Recording Academy Showcases: Marta Gomez

I attended the first ever Latin Recording Academy Showcase yesterday at The Grammy Museum in Downtown Los Angeles. I was invited by my good friend Gustavo Fernández (Delanuca Records/ DLN Distribution) to this intimate showcase presenting celebrated Colombian singer-songwriter Marta Gomez.

To be honest I had never heard of Marta Gomez before or had listened to her music, so I didn't know what to expect. Once inside the Grammy Museum, I took my seat with anticipation to hear those strange instruments that were on-stage. The lights dim and out comes three simple looking people and take their positions on-stage.

Marta began singing and I was astonished, such voice! A heavenly voice and charismatic being.
She sings every note with a smile and explosive emotions.

Everyone who hasn't hear or see Marta Gomez perform, you can not miss this wonderful music!
Check out her new album "Musiquita" (2009) released by Aluna Records.
